Chinese Cup and Thermos OEM Factories
China’s Cup and Thermos Factory Industry: A Global Leader in Manufacturing
China is the world’s largest producer and exporter of insulated cups, particularly stainless steel thermos bottles. It contributes over 60% of global production. The majority of these products are made in Zhejiang, with key manufacturing hubs in Yongkang, Wuyi, and Guangdong’s Chao’an, Jieyang, and Xinhui. In fact, it’s said that one in every three insulated cups worldwide is made in Yongkang, a county-level city renowned for its cup and thermos manufacturing.
Located in Zhejiang Province’s Jinhua city, Yongkang is adjacent to Yiwu, the world-famous city of small commodities. Known as the “Hardware Capital of China” and the “Capital of Cups,” Yongkang is also famous for products like security doors, smart locks, and power tools. Despite China’s massive output, the local market lacks a globally recognized brand like Thermos. Although major Chinese companies such as Haers have built significant presence, the high-end market is largely dominated by international brands like Tiger, Zojirushi, and Thermos.
Haers: A Leading Brand with a Strong OEM Backbone
Haers is China’s largest thermos manufacturer and has a dominant position in the market. As the first A-share listed company from Yongkang, it is a key player in the insulated cup industry. Over 80% of Haers’ business comes from OEM and ODM services, working with renowned international brands such as YETI, Starbucks (PMI), Stanley, S’well, Thermos, and Tiger. Haers has also invested heavily in its own brand development, launching several sub-brands to cater to different market segments:
- Haers: Known for high cost-performance products that are reasonably priced.
- nanlong: A century-old Swiss brand acquired by Haers.
- NONOO: A trendy brand focused on style and design for the fashion-conscious.
- SANTECO: A premium brand targeting mid-to-high-end markets.
Nanlong: A Diverse Manufacturing Powerhouse
Another leading manufacturer from Yongkang, Nanlong Group operates across various industries, from metal tableware to CNC machine tools. Specializing in thermos and kitchenware production, Nanlong collaborates with major international brands, including Thermos, Emsa, Stanley, and Starbucks. While their domestic brands like Nanlong and Oudon are relatively unknown, Nanlong’s OEM business continues to thrive with a focus on exports.
Feijian: Innovation Meets Global Demand
Feijian, though smaller than Haers and Nanlong, is another significant player from Yongkang. With a focus on high-end custom products, Feijian manufactures stainless steel, titanium, glass, and plastic thermos bottles. Known for its cutting-edge titanium vacuum insulation technology, Feijian has worked with brands like Starbucks, Hydro Flask, and Xiaomi. They are also pioneers in 5G-enabled smart manufacturing, making them one of the few companies to enter the military-civil fusion market.
Cayigroup: A Strong Exporter from Wuyi
Cayigroup, based in Wuyi, Zhejiang (next to Yongkang), is the second A-share listed company in the insulated cup industry. Most of Cayigroup’s business is in OEM for well-known international brands such as Stanley, Starbucks, and S’well. The company is making strides to develop its own brand, launching miGo and one2go after acquiring PMI’s brand assets.
Powcan: Competitive Pricing in the Domestic Market
Powcan, another key player from Wuyi, specializes in OEM for brands like S’well, Lock & Lock, and Emsa. Their self-branded products, including POWCAN, target the lower-to-mid-tier market. Powcan’s competitive pricing has earned it recognition as a cost-effective option for consumers who prioritize affordability over brand prestige.
Other Notable Brands
- Gint: Based in Jiaxing, Jiate produces high-quality thermos bottles and cups for export to countries like Japan, the U.S., and Europe. Their clients include Zojirushi, Coleman, and Decathlon.
- Wansheng: Founded in Shanghai, Wansheng focuses on high-end thermos products and exports to international markets, with major clients including Thermos, ALFI, and SEB.
- SOLIDWARE: Known for its air-pressure kettles, Silede is one of the first manufacturers in China to produce these products. While not as well-known globally, it serves a range of international brands like Ikea and Lock & Lock.
China’s cup and thermos industry is a global powerhouse, producing more than half of the world’s insulated drinkware. Despite a lack of household-name domestic brands in the high-end market, Chinese manufacturers have become essential OEM partners for major international brands. The industry continues to grow, with innovative companies such as Haers, Feijian, andCayigroup pushing the envelope in design and manufacturing technologies.
